Movie Week: 10/25/08 to 10/31/08 By: Gavin Mooney
Zack and Miri Make a Porno - Only one movie this week, had a lot to do. This movie was hilarious. Kevin Smith again shows that he still has spot on humor with excellent writing and story design. Up there as one of his best, “Zack and Miri” is about two best friends in financial trouble and decide that the best way to make some fast cash would be to make a porno. The title about says it all and as funny as the title would make this movie sound, the movie turns out to be just that. Seth Rogan again gave another hilarious performance with spot on timing and that goofy, down to earth, everyman attitude that he brings to all his roles. Elizabeth Banks as well gave an engaging performance and demonstrates, yet again, that she can be funny and act. This movie was also full of actors who over the past couple of years have been littering the screens in all of the actually funny movies like “Knocked Up” and “Forty Year Old Virgin” making it appear as though these actors are a tight knit group that are always looking out for each other and feeding each other roles. And of course another very funny performance by the nooch Jason Mewes who demonstrates, as he has before in other movies unseen by me, that yes he can play a role other than Jay. “Zack and Miri” is a very funny movie with some crude humor, as can be expected of Kevin Smith, and a good story, again no surprise from Smith, that I think that if you’ve enjoyed his past movies or are a total stranger to them then you’re going to laugh your ass off at this movie. Thumbs up, four stars, six flags, what ever… its funny go see it.
